Great Sand Dunes National Monument
Before we headed into the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to climb Mt Adams and Crestone Needle, we spent the night near Great Sand Dunes National Monument. The following day we planned on checking out the dunes in the morning. I wasn't real excited by the idea. Somehow I just couldn't see how a huge pile of sand could be that interesting or fun. Boy was I wrong!! Once we got started across the sand we had a blast. Not to mention we bagged the tallest (750 feet) sand dune in North America!
